I have been so bad over the past few weeks about posting anything new… The summer is just flying by way to fast.. We are off to my parent’s in Utah for a week and a few days, so I will post when we get home with new photos…. Hope each of you are enjoying your summer!!!!

Spider Bites, Trips and Falls…that’s how our summer is going so far!!

WOW! is all I can say about summer so far….. Right after school was over Ethan was bite by a spider and ended up with a severe infection!!! He was on antibiotics and had 2 large black circles on his arm and leg where the bites were to see if the infection was growing up his arm and leg. The scariest part of the whole thing was the line that was heading up his arm where the infection was going to his underarm…He was a trooper, and took his medicine for itching and infection and is all better–I thought all would go smoothly the rest of summer break….WELL, of course NOT. Last Saturday Ethan and Larry were going to swim. I was in the kitchen doing dishes. Ethan comes running in the house saying Daddy had fallen into the pool. I thought he was at the bottom of the pool, and went running outside. He sat on the deck in horrid pain. I knew it was not just a simple trip and fall, but he had broken his ankle. After several hours at the ER we left with a splint on his leg, and a list of Ortho. doctors here in town. Monday morning comes along only 2 offices in this town of MANY Ortho doctors do ankles…one said they could get him in on the 28th of July??? WHAT??? Luckily the other practice worked him in. The Dr. said you need surgery, so Tuesday afternoon they place 6 screws and a plate in his left ankle. MAN I hope summer gets better…I am EXHAUSTED!!!!

Natalie this past spring showed a talent we did not know she had. Now she is talented in several things, but when track season came around she just blew the competition away!!! She ran 5 events placing 1st and 2nd in each. She then went on to the District meet where she placed one shy of going onto Area, BUT Natalie was asked by the coaches to step in to race for a girl who did not make it in an event that was above her grade level with her sister on a relay team, and they won!!! She helped the girls to be able to move onto the Area Meet. She has been invited to participate on the local track club team in the fall!! Natalie can’t wait to put her track shoes on, and race again.

Pioneer Award

Each year the 6th grade teachers choose the top students in each class, and they are given the Pioneer Award. The student must be a top notch student inside the classroom, and out. Meredith was a honor student, played on the school volleyball team, she helped other teachers around the school when extra help was needed, and went to area for track. Her teacher felt she was the kind of student the award was meant to be given to, so Meredith was given the Pioneer award at the special sixth grade awards assembly. In the photo below is a picture of Meredith with her award, and he fantastic sixth grade teacher.

Last Day of Elementary School…

At the end of May was Meredith’s last day of elementary school as she will be moving onto Jr. High School in the fall. It was a hard day for me as that was the last day that all three children will be at the same school at the same time. It was also sad for her as many of her friends will be attending different schools this fall. I remember 6th grade..I remember crying all day long knowing that I was going to miss my friends and SCARED to death of what awaited me in Jr. High School. We are fortunate enough to live right near the school (within walking distance). I was in the living room picking up when I noticed this large crowd of kids at the school. I just knew it had to be Meredith and her friends. (see photo below) She called me from her phone and sounded all stuffy(as if she had been crying), and asked if she could say awhile longer. I told her yes–as I could see her from the front window. As I think back it seems like I was just taking her to Kindergarten Ethan was only 2 weeks old. The time just flew by. She is closing one chapter of her education, and moving on to an even bigger and more challenging chapter of education with a few more chapters to follow. I know that she can do whatever is placed before her she is one smart cookie!!

I love summer vacation. I love having my children home with me!!! Their voices make our home alive, and there is happiness and sense of fun (and even a little clutter and mess ). They are growing so quickly, and I relish this time as I know if just a few years they will begin to leave home and go out on their own. They are each so very different, but gel so well together..Now I am not saying it is total love all the time, but they genuinely do love one another. I am one blessed Mama.

My Girl’s and their Vacation with Nana…..

The girls had the wonderful opportunity to go on a FUN adventure with their Nana this week!!! They walked lots and lots, talked, ate, and just had a great time in Southern Utah on their way to their ultimate destination the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City Utah. First stop was Zion’s National Park. They rode the shuttle into the park, hiked, playing in the Virgin River and watched a “cool” movie on a 60 foot movie screen one of the tallest screens in America about Zion’s National Park, and how it came to be. The next morning they hiked in Kolob, and after that they made their way to Cedar City. The girls are still talking the play Fiddler on the Roof they saw in the afternoon how WONDERFUL it was, and Cyrano de Bergerac. During the day on Thursday before the 2nd play my mother-in-law took ill. Not thinking she would be gone for long (as she thought her blood pressure was just high) they took her to the nearest ER in Cedar City leaving my two BRAVE BRAVE daughter’s alone in the care of very capable members of the Shakespeare festival staff who were ever so attentive to the girls ever need. Luckily, we have family close by(Larry’s WONDERFUL, FANTASTIC, FUNNY Cousin and her husband) who were able to come and make sure my mother-in-law was ok at the hospital and take the girls after the festival was over back to the hotel they were staying at. I am so THANKFUL for wonderful family, medical doctors in Cedar City and the staff at the festival they made what could have been a very scary, serious time so much easier. The girls are looking forward to next years adventure with Nana– Yellowstone National Park.
